Veered out of sight
Into the lost composition
Of a Tennessee night
I once shared with you.
They flowed along the trail you taught me;
Where dirt and trees intertwined
And the rocks were keepsakes
I stowed away;
As if my mind
Could erase
The way your tea smelled
As we sat there in the stillness of
The others'
Quiet talk
And card games.
I miss getting lost with you;
Lost in you;
Lost because of you.
What I found is
Exactly what they said I would
And perhaps
That's why I can't
Help
But keep digging.
My faith has always outweighed
My logic.
